Barca Want Pedro To Stay

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique insists he wants Pedro to stay at the club, despite interest from Manchester United for the Spain forward.

Unconfirmed reports in the Spanish press claim that United have sent representatives to the Nou Camp to conclude a deal for the 28-year-old, but Sky sources understand no talks have yet taken place.

Barcelona are believed to have made it clear that any prospective buyer would have to pay the £22m release clause in the player's contract to initiate talks and no club has yet done so, and Enrique's stance is clear.

"He is a high standard player that has already won everything. He has proven his qualities with good performances both for the club and the (Spanish) national team," he said.

"As his coach I want him to stay. I know him since he was in the second team. But I repeat the same thing, there is no news and only the player can give news."

Pedro joined Barcelona's youth team as a 17-year-old and has won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues since.

But he has not been a regular in the first-team under manager Enrique, and made just 15 league starts as Barca won the title last season.
