Jose Tops Premier League Trophy Table

Some of the world’s most successful and highest-profile managers are working in the Premier League this season, and Jose Mourinho stands above them all in terms of trophies won.

Our research shows the Manchester United boss has lifted 21 pieces of silverware throughout his storied career in the dugout, beginning with the Primeira Liga at FC Porto in June 2003 and continuing some 13 years later with last weekend's FA Community Shield triumph at Wembley Stadium.

Highlights from Mourinho's trophy haul include the two Champions Leagues won with Porto and Inter Milan, the La Liga title claimed at Real Madrid and the three championships collected at Chelsea.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is second on the list of trophy-winners with 20 to his name and that is mightily impressive when you consider the Catalan began his managerial career in the summer of 2008 at Barcelona, before later moving to FC Bayern Munich and Germany in 2013.

Arsene Wenger, who is about to embark on his 21st season as Arsenal boss, has raised 19 trophies into the air during a varied career in which the 66-year-old has worked in France, Japan and north London.

The top five is made up by Leicester City's Claudio Ranieri on 10, and new Everton boss Ronald Koeman on eight, following his previous successes while managing in his native Holland and Spain.

Not all managers are judged on their ability to win trophies, of course, and others have enjoyed fine careers by steering clubs away from relegation or progressing up the table over a period of years. Others on the list are also at the very beginning of their careers with a bright future ahead.

With three domestic and two European trophies up for grabs this season, the order of this table is set to change and United fans will hope that Mourinho remains at the top by the end of May.
