Mourinho Explains His 'Stupid Ambition'

After winning the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, Jose Mourinho sat down in front of the media to discuss what he described as his “stupid ambition” for Manchester United.

The manager told reporters that he wants his team to win every single match in all competitions this season, and he will set about that mission in Sunday’s Premier League opener at Bournemouth.

“My ambition is a stupid ambition, I have to confess, because it is an impossible ambition,” Jose admitted. “My ambition is to win every game, so my ambition now is to win against Bournemouth.

"That will be very difficult. Can we win? We have to think about that. After Bournemouth, it doesn't matter about the result, we will play against Southampton and we want to win.

“We want to win every game. It is a very stupid motivation but if you look in a different perspective then it is what we have to do - improve, improve, improve and every match we will try to win."

Mourinho’s statement of intent echoed a similar statement that he made last Friday, when he revealed he has given his players the “unrealistic target” of winning the Premier League title.

The 53-year-old explained that a similarly ambitious approach had helped him to famously win the UEFA Champions League with former clubs Porto and Internazionale.
