Schweinsteiger Left Out Of Manchester United's Europa League Squad

Manchester United have left midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger out of their 27-man squad for the Europa League group stages.

The former Germany captain was included in United's Premier League squad earlier this week but will not feature in the Europa League after being omitted by Jose Mourinho.

Schweinsteiger was free to leave Old Trafford prior to Wednesday's transfer deadline, but he stated his desire to stay at United rather than joining another European club and a move failed to materialise.

Mourinho said last week it would be "very difficult" but not impossible for Schweinsteiger to feature under him for United this season.

Promising defenders Timothy Fosu-Mensah, 18, and Axel Tuanzebe, 18, have been included by Mourinho.
