Carrick's Best United Team-Mate

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has identified club legend Paul Scholes as his greatest-ever team-mate at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old, now in his 11th season with the Reds, revealed that opinion in the ‘Football & Me’ section of his recent exclusive interview with our official match programme United Review.

Check out Carrick's answers to our quick-fire round of questions…

First football match you ever attended…
It was a Newcastle game – I think it was against QPR and at St James’ Park. It was in the old First Division.

First team you ever played for at any level…
Wallsend Boys Club. A great little club.

Greatest player you’ve played with…
Alongside me, I’d have to say Scholesy.

Best goal you ever scored…
Well, the most important one was probably away to Wigan in 2009 as it helped us win the league title. I’ll say that one.

Proudest moment in football…
The best moment has to be winning the Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow. It doesn’t get better than that.

Matchday rituals...
Not so much, no. Some players have them, but not me.

Match you’d like to go back and play again…
The Champions League final in Moscow, for obvious reasons. It was a very special night.

Football’s greatest-ever player…
It’s a tough one to pick, that. It has probably got to be Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
