Man. United's Premier League Bogey Team

If the record books are anything to go by, Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge on Sunday may not be a happy one.

Chelsea have the best record of any Premier League side against Manchester United, and are the only side to have won more league games than they have lost against the Red Devils (of sides to have won a minimum of five games).

United manager Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge for only the second time as a manager on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 at 4pm.

Chelsea have taken 67 points out of a possible 144 in 48 games against United in the Premier League, which is 17 more points than Arsenal have managed from their 48 fixtures.

The Blues have registered 16 wins and 19 draws against United, losing just 13, a far superior record to other Premier League ever-presents. Of those 16 wins, five were recorded by Mourinho which is more than any other Chelsea boss.

Arsenal have won 12, drawn 14 and lost 22 against United, while Liverpool have won 13, drawn nine and lost 27, picking up 48 points out of a possible 147.

Manchester City are next, claiming 12 wins in 39 games and picking up 43 points out of a possible 117. That gives a better points-per-game ratio (1.10) than Arsenal (1.04) and Liverpool (0.95), but is still far short of Chelsea (1.39).

Chelsea have also scored more Premier League goals against United, netting 62 times and conceding 59. Liverpool have scored the second-most in the Premier League era, scoring 55 but conceding 72, followed by City (scored 51, conceded 59) and Arsenal (scored 48, conceded 69).

Chelsea have also registered some big wins over United in Premier League history, including the 5-0 victory at Stamford Bridge in October 1999, a 3-0 win at Old Trafford in December 2001, and their 3-0 win in West London in April 2006, which secured Mourinho's second Premier League title.

Chelsea are unbeaten in seven league games against United (won three, drawn four), and if they avoid defeat on Sunday, it will be the first time in their league history they have gone unbeaten in eight games against a club.

United have also struggled during visits to the capital of late, winning only one of their last eight games in London, but historically they have taken more points away from Stamford Bridge than any other side in league history.

Of the 74 games United have played at Stamford Bridge, 30 have been wins, picking up 1.49 points per game, higher than Watford (1.45), Wimbledon (1.31), Arsenal (1.27) and Burnley (1.21).
