Blind: We Must Be Ready For Swansea
Manchester United defender Daley Blind said the players need to dust themselves down and move on after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night.
A stunning bicycle kick from Senegalese striker Moussa Sow got the home side off to a flyer, which Blind admitted was hard to take.
"It was tough conceding the early goal - he won’t score a goal like that again in his life," the Dutchman told MUTV. "That forced us to push forward which left us at the risk of a counter-attack. That ended up leading to their second goal."
Jeremain Lens’s superb free-kick made it 2-0 for the Turkish side before Wayne Rooney grabbed a terrific goal for United, albeit one which came too late to turn the result around.
"We scored too late and didn’t leave ourselves enough time to get another goal," Blind conceded. "Maybe if the goal had come earlier we could have done more."
A second defeat in this season's Europa League understandably weighed heavily on the players' shoulders but Daley insists the Reds must swiftly prepare for the Premier League trip to Swansea on Sunday.
"The atmosphere in the dressing room is down after that but we must dust ourselves off and stand up," he told us. "We need to look at ourselves and try and put it right in the next game. There are still six points available in this group.
"I’d rather the next game [in any competition] was tomorrow so we can put things right but we will make sure we are ready for Sunday."
