Schwarzer: Mourinho Despises Sulkers

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho "despises players who sulk", says ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.

Mourinho accused United's players of approaching a 2-1 Europa League loss to Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Thursday as if it was a "summer friendly".

Schwarzer, who joined Chelsea in 2013 during Mourinho's second spell at the club, said one of his "pet hates" was players "not being switched on".

"I understand why he's livid at this moment in time," added the Australian.

"He's a manager that expects and demands the most from his players all the time. He would be furious.

"He goes along the lines of trying to show them. He hates losing and he wants them to feel his pain, and hopefully they feel it enough that they don't want to go there again."

Mourinho's side are eighth in the Premier League having won four of their first 10 games and sit eight points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Schwarzer, 44, told BBC Radio 5 live's Friday Sports Panel that he once saw his former boss "destroy a table" and that Mourinho would not consider those players who do not perform for future selection.

"He wants to be able to give people criticism. He wants people to be able to take it on the chin, roll their sleeves up and prove him wrong," added Schwarzer, who won 109 caps for Australia.

"He loves that. Ultimately, he will give you so much more respect if you respond in that manner. The ones that sulk are the ones that he despises."
