Fellaini Dejected After Draw

Marouane Fellaini was understandably dejected as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw by a resolute West Bromwich Albion side at Old Trafford.

The Belgian midfielder was one of United’s best players on an ultimately frustrating afternoon and he highlighted the need to score early on against such stubborn opponents.

"It’s disappointing, everyone is disappointed," he told MUTV. "We’ve lost a lot of points like that, but that’s football and we have to keep fighting.

"An early goal [is the key], the (early) chance has to be a goal. I think their goalkeeper [Ben Foster] made a great save, [there was] another chance but [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan was in-front of me so we tried but we were unlucky and we have to improve on that."

West Brom's clear tactics were to stifle Jose Mourinho’s men and Fellaini believed his side would have had a better chance of winning had they been the away team. "When you play away, the other team tries to attack. It’s not easy to play at Old Trafford, they came to take a point or win with a counter-attack but we have to find a solution to win the game. We tried our best today, we did everything to win the game, the spirit was there."

The 29-year-old was keen to point out there are still a lot of points to play for in United’s quest for a top-four position. "There are 10 games, 30 points so we have to keep going. There are a lot of big games coming and we have to be ready. There are six points available next week and I hope we can take them."

It’s a quick turnaround for the Reds as Fellaini’s former club Everton visit Old Trafford on Tuesday night and the Belgian knows the task his ex-employers will pose. "It’ll be a tough game. They’re a tough team but every game will be difficult and we have to fight to the end."
