Young Determined To Bounce Back After Draw
Ashley Young was naturally disappointed following Sunday's 1-1 draw against Swansea City, but insists Manchester United still have plenty to play for before the end of the season.
Wayne Rooney's penalty just before the break had put the Reds ahead at Old Trafford, but a free-kick from Gylfi Sigurdsson ultimately meant Jose Mourinho's men had to settle for a point on a day when two more players, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly, picked up injuries and were forced to leave the field.
Speaking to MUTV after the game, Young is determined to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, starting with Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg against Celta Vigo.
He said: "It wasn't [the result] we wanted against Swansea, but we've still got games and points to play for [in the Premier League] and the Europa League as well coming up.
"We'll have to recover again for the next few days and then we've got that trip to look forward to. It's not ideal getting a few more injuries on top of the ones we've already got but we have to keep going.
"We have plenty of incentive to get ourselves up for the Europa League semi-final and a chance to get to the final. If we can win that, we'll get into the Champions League."
Asked whether the priority is now recovering for the next game, Young added: "I think that's all it's been over the last month. You play a game, recover, and play another game. That's exactly what will happen.
"We'll go and recover tomorrow, probably recover on Tuesday and then the flight's on Wednesday. We just have to make sure we're prepared for the games coming up. We're professional players and we should go and win those games."
Although Sunday's result extended United's unbeaten run in the Premier League to a club-record 25 games, it was also the Reds' tenth home draw of the season.
"After ten draws at home, you think about the points that we've lost and thrown away and where we could have been in the league," Young admitted.
"When you go one goal ahead you always want to get the second. We did try but it just wouldn't come. I think on another day it could have been two or three. It wasn't to come and we just have to prepare now for the other games.
"A lot of people have been talking about fourth spot in the league but I thought we could go even higher than that. We've got a game in hand and a lot of tough games but as long as we're prepared I'm sure we can go and get the points that we need."
