Zlatan: I'm Ready For The Final

Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent social media into meltdown on Saturday after appearing to suggest he could play some part in Manchester United’s Europa League final clash with Ajax.

The Swedish striker underwent surgery in Pittsburgh at the beginning of the month after suffering major knee ligament damage during United's Europa League quarter-final tie against Anderlecht.

Dr Freddie Fu, who performed the operation on the United man, said last week the striker was one of the finest athletes he has ever touched, adding Ibrahimovic was in superb shape and could "still play for many years".

While it appears all-but impossible Ibrahimovic can play any part in the final, his United team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan says the 6ft 5in striker would play in the match on one leg if he could.

"He [Ibrahimovic] is very positive," Mkhitaryan exclusively told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I think if he has the possibility to play the final he would play with one leg because he is able to do that."

United boss Jose Mourinho confirmed to reporters on Friday that Ibrahimovic and injured team-mates Ashley Young and Luke Shaw will travel with the rest of the squad to Stockholm for Wednesday's final.

Ibrahimovic, who is out of contract in the summer and is yet to confirm his plans for the future, scored 28 goals in 46 appearances during his debut season in England.
