Jose's Injury Update On Mata And Darmian
Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the injuries suffered by Juan Mata and Matteo Darmian during Manchester United's 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.
The boss fielded two teams in the friendly, making 11 substitutions at half-time when the Reds were leading thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s cute finish and Romelu Lukaku’s first goal for the club.
Mata was among the players who came on for the second half but he was forced off shortly before the hour mark. Darmian picked up a knock in the 89th minute of the game, limping off and walking straight down the tunnel.
At the post-match press conference, Mourinho said: “Mata has a big ankle but I hope it is nothing important. A few days, a week, probably. Darmian's problem is not an important one.”
After beating Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Salt Lake, United’s attention now turns to Thursday’s International Champions Cup match against Manchester City in Houston.
