United duo shortlisted for PFA awards
Manchester United have two representatives on the PFA awards' shortlists for the main prizes for the 2017/18 season.
David De Gea, who is looking to clinch a place in the PFA Team of the Season for a fifth time in the Premier League, is in the running for the overall PFA Players' Player of the Year accolade.
The Spaniard is one of the candidates to succeed Chelsea's N'Golo Kante after another fabulous campaign keeping goal for the Reds. The other five names in the frame are Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and David Silva (all Manchester City), Mo Salah (Liverpool) and Harry Kane (Tottenham).
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has a place on the shortlist for the PFA Young Player of the Year trophy as the 20-year-old continues his excellent form for United and England. The forward recently scored both goals in the memorable win over Liverpool at Old Trafford and has regularly showed off his talents.
The other youngsters nominated are Ederson, Raheem Sterling and Sane (all Manchester City), Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham) and Spurs striker Kane.
Wayne Rooney was the last United man to win the senior prize, in 2010, completing a four-year dominance of the trophy by the Reds. The last time we succeeded in the Young Player category was in 2007, when Cristiano Ronaldo came out on top.
