Injury update after bruising success over Inter
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on the injuries suffered by Tahith Chong and Victor Lindelof during the 1-0 victory over Inter Milan on Saturday.
The Reds were good value for the three points in the International Champions Cup as Mason Greenwood scored the only goal of the game at the Singapore National Stadium.
Highlighting the competitive nature of the contest, the Serie A side produced some robust challenges, with Chong, in particular, struggling to shake off the effects of a crunching foul by Milan Skriniar, who was booked for the offence. It led to the Netherlands Under-21 international being replaced late on by Angel Gomes.
Lindelof, who performed well at the heart of the defence, had to make way for Phil Jones before the main raft of substitutions in the second half.
“Well, we don't know yet but they should be okay,” Ole told MUTV. “Victor, we’ll have to assess him tomorrow but Tahith will be fine. I think it’s just a knock. I don’t blame the defenders for trying to stop him!”
Romelu Lukaku sat out a third successive match of Tour 2019 due to an ankle injury, with keeper Lee Grant also still sidelined.
“Of course, if you're a player and don't manage to train for a week, and Rom's missed three games now, he'll be concerned. He's working to get back on the pitch and let's see how long it takes.
”We're looking forward to the China game against Tottenham and let's see who is available for it.“
David De Gea and Luke Shaw returned to the side against Inter, while Fred came off the bench.
