Solskjaer's team news for Liverpool clash
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will give Marcus Rashford time before deciding whether he’ll be fit to face Liverpool on Sunday.
The 22-year-old was forced off with a back injury during Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Wolves in the Emirates FA Cup, just 16 minutes after coming on a substitute, and Solskjaer conceded he may not be ready for our visit to Anfield.
“I can't tell you now,” Ole replied when asked about our no.10’s chances of featuring, during his pre-match press conference.
“As I said with Harry [Maguire] a few weeks ago, of course we're going to give him the absolute amount of time to find out.
“We're going to do some more checks and treatment with him today. Yesterday of course was just a recovery day anyway and some treatment for him.
“I haven't seen him this morning, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I would probably think that he wouldn't be ready, but let's see. There's still 48 hours, more than that, so let's see.”
Rashford scored the opening goal in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford, in a 1-1 draw, which is still the only instance of Liverpool dropping points in the Premier League this season.
Two other players who started that game will be missing for our trip down the M62, with Marcos Rojo and Scott McTominay still on the sidelines.
Paul Pogba is also out of contention, having undergone surgery on an ankle injury at the start of the month, while Axel Tuanzebe is on the road to recovery after a month out.
Luke Shaw is also a doubt, after missing out on the Wolves replay. The left-back suffered a tight hamstring during the warm-up against Norwich City on Saturday.
Eric Bailly, who is yet to feature for the first team this season after undergoing knee surgery in summer, played in a behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday, as he continues his recovery.
Earlier in the week, Solskjaer suggested the Ivorian could be ready to play against Liverpool, depending on how he got through that match, at the Aon Training Complex.
