The First 3 Days of The Chinese New Year.....

Today is the 5th day of the Chinese New Year. After the long weekend of holidays (17th to 20th Feb), its back to work. I have to admit that its really a struggle for me to concentrate on my job, as the past few days have been spent on having fun, fun and more fun.

Here are the brief details on how I spent the first 3 days of the Chinese New Year.....

Day 1:

Woke up early in the morning in order to prepare myself later for the visit to my grandma's house. Due to our busy schedules, we did not really get a chance to meet up. So, the Chinese New Year is a great opportunity for us to do that. What a difference a year makes! My grandma is 87 years old, and she still looks as healthy as ever, except that she has some difficulties in moving about, which is quite normal for someone her age. Her memoy is also failing her a bit, so she will tend to repeat her conversation again and again. I think she must be the most happiest person, as this is the time where she can get to see her children, grandsons and grandaughters in this rather special gathering.

As usual, I will be asked about my martial status and when I will be settled down with kids. As usual, i will leave the answering of all these probing questions to my mum. Poor her! She has to fend off all these questions by concerned relatives every year, but she really does it with relative ease and style. I think in order to make her life easier, I have to really work hard. But wait, all these things couldn't be forced, isn't it?

After the visit to my grandma's house, its time for me to catch a movie, or 2 movies to be exact. I have always been a fan of Jack Neo. as his movies are funny and have certain reflective values in them.

Jack Neo's latest movie, Just Follow law is a satirical movie that humorously explores the intricacies of office politics, seen through the eyes of blue-collar worker Shui (Gurmit Singh) and Vice President Tanya (Fann Wong) who, through a freak accident, swap souls and bodies. They each experience life in the shoes of the other and come to a better understanding of the plights and challenges facing the workforce in Singapore.

In this movie, actress Fann Wong is really very different from her usual demure self, as she has to act out some rather bold actions like scratching her crotch, feeling her boobs, walking with legs wide apart and etc. This is a definitely must watch movie!!

Epic Movie is another funny movie, but I think it isn't as good as Just Follow Law. This movie is a spoof of recent blockbusters like "Superman Returns" and "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory". The comedy is about four orphans who visit a chocolate factory and are transported to the wonderful land of Gnarnia, after stumbling upon an enchanted wardrobe. Sounds familiar?

Day 2:

Day 2 was a bit more relaxed than Day 1. In fact, Day 2 was a great time for me to catch up on some sleep, largely due to the hustle and bustle of Day 1. I did not go out at all, spending most of my time watching TV, surfing the net and eating the delicious cookies.

At late night, I managed to catch a great movie, Superman Returns on Video CD.

Day 3:

Last day of the holiday. Sigh! Wish that time will stop at that very moment. As usual, I stayed at home all day, as it was raining. Did nothing much, except that I managed to catch yet another great movie on Video CD again.

The plot of the movie is centered around the eve of the Chong Yang Festival in 10th century Tang Dynasty. the Imperial family comprising the Emperor (Chow Yun Fat), the Empress (Gong Li), the Crown Prince and the second son Prince Jai are embroiled in a familial war entailing passion, treachery, treason and betrayal, resulting in a bloody rebellion and an end to the empire.

After watching the movie, I went to bed as I have to report to work on the next day.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the Chinese New Year is a rather special festival for me. This festival is a great time to do some catching up with friends and relatives, to pig out (yeah, its the year of the Pig), to gorge yourself silly with great food and a lot of fun things to do during the period.

Lastly, I would like to thank those people who have sent me those lovely Chinese New Year messages. I really appreciate that. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the people in the world a happy Chinese New Year!

P.S.: I could not wait for the next gathering of my relatives.... . Till we meet again soon! =)
