Everyone Is United

Darron Gibson says everyone in the squad is pulling together to ensure the Reds enjoy a successful campaign.

While competition for places within the starting XI can leave players frustrated at times, Gibson insists everyone understands that the team come first and, in Sir Alex Ferguson, the Reds have the best around at keeping players happy.

"Not only do we have a good squad, we're a really tight group as well," Gibson told ManUtd.com. "We have a great team spirit and no-one wants to upset it.

"Sir Alex Ferguson is probably the greatest manager ever. He knows what he is doing and how to keep players happy.

"We have a good group here and hopefully it will stay like that for a long time."

Despite the likes of Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Anderson and Darren Fletcher all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, Gibson, who has featured in four of United's last five games, says he has been pleased with his contributions to the cause so far this season.

"When you are a younger player you have to wait for your chance and when it comes along you have to take it," added the midfielder.

"Luckily for me when I came back from injury earlier in the season, there were a few others out for a while and I got my chance.

"There is a little extra pressure because you always have to prove you can do as well, if not better, than the players who are in every week.

"I feel I have kicked on from there and have played a few games since."

Darron was speaking to ManUtd.com, PA Sport, Magic 1152 and BBC Sport.
