Law Appreciates Pivotal Win

Manchester United legend Denis Law believes Sunday's victory over Arsenal can be a defining moment in the club's season.

The champions risked slipping 11 points behind the leaders if Arsene Wenger's side had prevailed at Old Trafford but instead Robin van Persie sank his former club with a first-half header. Law was pleased for his compatriot David Moyes, whose celebrations showed how much the result meant to him.

"We knew it'd be a hard situation to take over from Sir Alex," Law told ManUtd.com. "I've got to say that, but it's well documented that Alex didn't have a great time to begin with.

"So it was a difficult situation for David but he's a good manager. Although things didn't go too well at the beginning, we have to wait until the end of season. Now we're coming back into it and I think the game on Sunday indicated how the season will finish."

The fans played their part too, roaring the team on in the second half in particular as Arsenal enjoyed plenty of possession but rarely troubled David De Gea. "It was fantastic," enthused Law at an Old Trafford event to announce a new deal with STC, the club's official triple play partner.

"We always knew it was going to be an important game and, although 11 points wouldn't have been the end of the world, it would have been a big difference. The atmosphere was fabulous and everything was fantastic. Arsenal played quite well and maybe they would go back and say we could have got a draw but United held out well."
