Moyes' Advice For Januzaj
David Moyes does not feel that Adnan Januzaj needs to be afforded more protection by referees despite being on the sharp end of a few bruising challenges at Fulham.
The exciting teenager appeared to be the victim of a stamp from Sascha Riether in the closing stages when trying to hold onto the ball but the offence was understandably missed by referee Lee Probert, who instead had to deal with the flare-up that followed.
Januzaj was clearly incensed with the incident and Marouane Fellaini was also aggrieved on his behalf but the manager is keen for the Old Trafford prodigy to concentrate on hurting teams with his football.
"We are never going to ask for protection because we want him to get up," explained Moyes to MUTV. "We don't want him to go down easily.
"We've told him that is not what we want – we need him to go on because he's got great balance and ability.
"There were a couple of times when fouls could have been given against him but they were not forthcoming. We want people to realise this is a really honest boy who is not intent on going down. If he doesn't get the fouls, he just needs to live with it and get on with the game by chasing and winning the ball back."
In terms of the incident involving Riether, the manager did not have a clear view of the fracas.
"I could not see it from the dug-out," he stressed.
