Moyes Hails Hernandez Form

David Moyes has backed Javier Hernandez to continue with the kind of form that has made the Mexican a key figure in Manchester United’s European campaigns.

The striker is in the squad gearing up for tonight’s Champions League clash with Real Sociedad in San Sebastian, and he will have happy memories of the country where he opened his goals account in Europe’s elite club competition.

Hernandez scored the only goal of the game when United last won in Spain, against Valencia in 2010. It was his second strike for the club, in fact, following one on his debut in the 3-1 FA Community Shield win over Chelsea. The 25-year-old has found the net seven times in the Champions League overall, most recently against Braga away last season.

“He's scored a lot of goals over the last few years - and he continues to do so, so we'll continue to use him,” declared Moyes in his pre-match press conference.

With four goals in all competitions during the current campaign, including two against Norwich last week, Hernandez is in good form. But Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney’s recent displays mean that the manager has a welcome selection dilemma as he prepares the side for tonight’s game in the Anoeta Stadium.

Moyes, of course, didn’t reveal his line-up although he did acknowledge: “We need Javier, he's very good for us. He scored a couple of very good goals the other night. Hopefully that continues."
