Falcao Relief At First United Goal

Radamel Falcao hopes he has scored the first of many Manchester United goals after opening his account in the 2-1 win over Everton.

He hit the net for the first time on his fourth outing for the Reds, diverting a mis-hit shot from Angel Di Maria past the Toffees’ former United goalkeeper Tim Howard in what proved to be the winner.

The striker had gone close several times in his earlier appearances, and indeed before the found the net against Everton, but the Colombian was delighted to get off the mark in front of a home crowd.

"All strikers need goals, and for me there was a little bit of relief to score my first goal," he told MUTV. "I hope to score many in the future. It was amazing that my first goal was at Old Trafford, I enjoyed it with all the fans and I want to say thank you to God, my team mates, all the staff and the coaches."

Manager Louis van Gaal had spoken to the 28-year-old about being more relaxed, saying: "He needed that goal. I talked with him and I told him that he was forcing himself too much to score. He is a player who scores in every match. Now he has his, it will be better after the international break."

Having clinched three points with his quick thinking positioning inside the box, Falcao is looking to the future beyond his current loan from Monaco. "Me and my family are happy here, and we would like to stay for many years at Manchester United."
