Could Sir Alex Ferguson Help Ryan Giggs At Manchester United?
Could Sir Alex Ferguson return to Old Trafford to help Ryan Giggs at Manchester United?
That's the view of The People's Steve Bates, who told the Sunday Supplement that Ferguson is ready to be a mentor for Giggs should he take over from Louis van Gaal at United.
Bates revealed Ferguson, who retired as Manchester United boss in 2013, is waiting in the wings to take a hands-on role behind the scenes to aid Giggs if he becomes the next Manchester United boss - but he will not return to the dugout.
"Ferguson has not been involved in any of the strategic decision making in the club since the appointment of David Moyes," Bates said.
"Sir Alex is there all the time these days. He's often in the director's box. There's no way he's going back to the dugout but my understanding is if Ryan Giggs is given the reigns, maybe until the end of the season, then Sir Alex would be there for him.
"Giggs is one of the famous five. He's been with him since he was a young boy. He's very much a father figure to Giggs and somebody who would definitely be there to mentor him and help him navigate a difficult situation if United were to changes managers at this point or sometime soon.
"I'm absolutely certain Sir Alex would be there for Ryan Giggs and give him the advice and be a sounding board for him, I'm sure Giggs would call on him."
