Loan Move Agreed For Varela

Manchester United and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached agreement for Guillermo Varela to join the Bundesliga club on a season-long loan, effective until 30 June 2017.

The Uruguayan defender came on as a substitute in Jose Mourinho's first game in charge of United, the 2-0 friendly win at Wigan Athletic last weekend, but with his temporary move to Germany in progress, he did not travel to China on Tour 2016, presented by Aon.

Since making his senior Reds debut in a goalless home draw against West Ham United on 5 December 2015, Varela has made a total of 10 starts for the first team. He also scored the dramatic title-clinching goal for the Under-21s last season against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

The South American has previously enjoyed a season away from Old Trafford with Real Madrid's Castilla side following his move to Manchester from Uruguayan club Penarol in the summer of 2013.
