Blind: We Live For Games Like Liverpool

Daley Blind is looking forward to facing Liverpool for the sixth time as a Manchester United player on Monday evening.

The Dutchman is expected to be named in defence for Jose Mourinho's team as the Reds prepare to play under the floodlights at Anfield for only the third time in the Premier League.

Mourinho is excited about experiencing this historic fixture for the first time as United boss and Blind feels the same, though he knows it will be a real battle against Jurgen Klopp's in-form side.

"These are the games you live for when you are young, growing up wanting to be a footballer," Blind told MUTV. "It will be a tough game; we will have to play well but so will they.

"Games like this are played with a lot of emotion but, just like every game, we go into this to win. What is important is the result and we will try to get that."

Blind's set-pieces have been praised this season and the 26-year-old believes United's height could be an advantage against the Merseysiders.

"We have a lot of height in the box and we must use that," he continued. "Top-level football games are close and they can be decided with small details; set-pieces are one of them and it is an opportunity for us to score a goal."

The versatile defender is relishing the occasion and was keen to praise United's fans, echoing his manager's comment that their vocal support can help the team in such big fixtures.

"Our fans are always with us, they always have our back and we feel that, which is important for us," Blind said. "Every game they are there and they are always behind us in their numbers; that is great to see."
