Mourinho: Zlatan Can Deliver Again
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has backed Zlatan Ibrahimovic to continue his fine form against Anderlecht, and believes the striker has "extra motivation" to win the Europa League with the club.
Ibrahimovic has netted 28 goals for the Reds in all competitions this season, and scored four times in the away game against Thursday's opponents while playing for Paris Saint-Germain during the 2013/14 campaign. He also netted in a 1-1 draw in the French capital in the Champions League Group C tie.
During his pre-match press conference at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, the manager was asked whether or not Zlatan could repeat the feat, saying: “I think it’s part of history, he scores goals everywhere and probably doesn’t even remember that!
"But, we hope he can deliver again. He has a good feeling with this stadium, too. For example, when we played Saint-Etienne, everyone was speaking about his record against them as a Paris Saint-Germain player, and then he scored again. Let’s see if he can do it again."
The Swedish forward will be hoping to help United take a step closer to next month's final, which will be played in Stockholm.
"It’s the motivation of everyone at the club to go to the final and I believe maybe he has a little more motivation because the final is in Sweden," Jose added. "Also because he has never played in this final during such an amazing career he’s had."
