Jones Declares Himself Available For Spurs

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has told manager Jose Mourinho he feels ready ahead of Saturday's big Premier League encounter with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The centre-back was withdrawn at Huddersfield Town last weekend with the match still goalless but was fit enough to be on the bench for the Carabao Cup success over Swansea City as the Reds provided the perfect response to the disappointment at the John Smith's Stadium.

There were no fresh injuries sustained at the Liberty Stadium but the boss is still unsure whether he will have any other players back for the showdown with Spurs.

"It was quite comfortable and no injuries," said Mourinho. "So a good day for us.

"I think Jones will be [back] because, today, he was on the bench and he told me he will be ready in case I need him. So I believe he'll be even better for Saturday.

"Apart from that, I have no news and no hopes [for any other players]."

Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo are thought to be closing in on a return to fitness while the boss has offered no fresh update on Paul Pogba.
