De Gea Excited About Van Gaal

Goalkeeper David de Gea says he is excited about the change and innovation that new manager Louis van Gaal will bring to Manchester United.

De Gea, 23 and currently part of Spain’s World Cup squad in Brazil, established himself as the number one at Old Trafford under both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes.

Spain clash with Van Gaal’s Netherlands in their Group B opener in Salvador de Bahia on Friday and De Gea has part of his mind set on what pre-season will be like under the current Dutch head coach.

He said: "He has won everything as a coach. He’s very good and I think he's going to bring a lot to Manchester United.

“He will bring important and innovative ideas and I think he's going to be very good for us. He's going to help us a lot because he's going to bring a different style of play.

"England is a great place to play football, the fans respect you a lot. It's wondrous."

As Spain’s third-choice keeper, De Gea is unlikely to come up personally against Netherlands striker Robin van Persie in their opening World Cup game.

But De Gea revealed he has been discussing the game with his United team-mate.

"I've sent him the odd message. He's a great player and we'll have to follow him closely. I hope that he has a quiet game,” he said.
