Music Album Review -- Elva Hsiao (1087)

1087. 4 digits..... . Yes, I know what you people (hardcore 4D fans) are thinking about. Am I giving you some lucky numbers to buy? In a way, probably yes or no, depending on how you look at it.... .

As you may understand from the title of this posting, this is a review for Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao's latest album, 1087.

Why the title 1087? Well, it refers to the number of days Elva last released her album, or the number of days she has been away from the chinese music scene.

This album of hers is somewhat like her comeback album, therefore signaling her intention to take back the self proclaimed title of "Dancing Diva" from Jolin Tsai. Jolin happened to take the title away while Elva was having some problems involving the release of this album. After months of disputes, her album is finally out and sales so far has been good.

What is a Dancing Diva without dance tracks? In 1087, Elva's has been given a chance to reclaim back her title with fast- paced tracks like track numbers 1, 5 and 8. She has also composed some songs on her own, in the form of lyrics, in track numbers 3 (with singer-composer Lee Hom), 7, 10 and 12.

Between the two dancing divas, Jolin and Elva, Elva is the one with the stronger vocals, but Jolin is definitely catching up. As for dancing skills, it is rather hard to separate between the two.. .

One element of surprise in this album should be the "hidden" track after track number 12. That particular song is rather catchy, and Elva has given that song a different feeling to it. As for the title of that song, I prefer to keep it a secret. What I can say is that Jocie Guo has sung it before and that song has also been used in the animated movie, Chicken Little. (Does it ring a bell to you?)

Currently, Elva is nursing a leg injury while filming one of her music videos, and will be out of action for some time. She is down at the moment, but definitely not out. 1087 is a good album to buy and is highly recommended by me.

How about the number? Well, I don't mind having a small wager that it will strike the top prize someday.... .

(As based on current records by Singapore Pools, the number 1087 has not struck the top prize before)

1087... . We have waited for 1087 days for the release of her latest album.

I'm back! Elva's message to her fans.
